Arctic Char Strategy and Tips
Strategy: During the spring, Char tend to concentrate near the mouths of rivers. Here they feast on outgoing salmon smolt. This is a good time to cast a spoon or spinner that resembles a smolt. When fishing deep lakes, start off by looking for drop-offs adjacent to underwater points and structures. Jig a large spoon or imitation shad near the base of these drop-offs.
Tip: The barometer is the single, most effective means of indicating when fish will be moving and feeding. A rising or steady barometer gives way to the best fishing.
