Boiled Crab

 

1 cup Salt

4 quarts Water

Butter

Garlic

 

Add salt to water.  Bring water to a full rolling boil.  Place the live crab into the water and return to a rolling boil.  Boil for 20 minutes.  Remove the crab from the water and chill the crab quickly in ice water for several minutes.  Melt the butter and mix the garlic into the butter.  Use as the dipping sauce.

 

Note:  Beer, crab boil spices, or other flavorings can be added to the water during boiling, if desired.
