Chum Salmon Strategy and Tips
Strategy: Locate areas where the water narrows and runs fast. This puts the chum salmon in an aggressive mood and they will bite anything coming towards them. Try flipping’ a fly or a spin and glow in the fast moving water. Drifting salmon eggs is also effective as it is instinctive for a chum to gather loose eggs and take them back to a protected area. Also, chums seem to have a fondness for black lures.
Tip: Use good quality fishing line. While millions of fishermen have no problem running to the store and spending 100’s of dollars on fancy rods, reels, and tackle, they often scrimp when it comes to buying fishing line. Think about it, all that is separating you from the fish is your line. So spend the extra money and purchase quality line. Add up all the costs, line is cheap… fish are expensive.
