King Salmon Strategy and Tips

Strategy:  From mid-May through July the mighty King starts to make its way back to its native stream after four to eight years out at sea.  This is the time to troll a fresh Herring along the shorelines and mouths of the rivers.  However, once the King enters the freshwater, they tend to stop feeding.  Therefore, a lure must constantly be teased in front of the Salmon’s kype to trigger an aggravated strike.  Use spin and glows, pixies and wiggle warts.

Tip:  Fish the new and full moons.  Although it is easy to understand the effect the moon has on ocean fishing.  Higher tides bring in more fish.  The effect it has on freshwater fish remains a mystery.  Yet, it stands to reckon that 3/4 of all record fish are caught during these phases.
