Beaver Strategy and Tips
Strategy: To trap a beaver, the best set to use is the dam crossover. On top of the dam there will be a path where the beaver crosses over. Using a Conibear 330, place the trap so it is half in the water at the end of the path. The idea of the Conibear is to get the beaver to stick its head inside the trap. Push two sticks through the set springs on the trap to prevent the beaver from knocking it over. Set the bottom of the trap underwater and tie six feet of wire to the trap and a solid object.
Tip: Remember when using Conibear traps on dry land you will be dealing with freezing temperatures. In order to keep your trap from freezing to the ground, place sticks underneath the trap. When staking your set springs, do not use green sticks with bark or the beaver may grab the stick instead of traveling through the trap.
