Ringneck Pheasant motionless in a field.

Ringneck Pheasant Strategy and Tips

Strategy:  A good place to start your Pheasant hunt is the cover between feeding areas, such as fence lines, treelines, and brushy ravines.  Also check swampy areas with tall grass and cattails.

Tip:  Hunt during a falling barometer.  While the barometer is used mainly to gauge fishing activity, it is also a factor in hunting.  Pheasants will attempt to feed prior to rain and snow storms.  They will also be looking for gravel for their gizzards and better cover to ride out the storm.
